What does "creativity" mean to you? Often people think it’s about art – and it can be – but you don’t need to be an artist to be creative.

Creativity, as they say, is the mother of invention. It can be defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems and communicating with others.

There are many ways to be creative. Inventing the light bulb was creative. So is figuring out a way to make the early meeting at work and get the kids to school on time without leaving them at home alone. It all depends on the issue at hand. It may be about what to wear today or ordering the stock your customers will be attracted to. It could about finding a new job or the right doctor. Whether your problem is tiny or gargantuan, there are solutions, and finding solutions that work (whether they are logistical, technical, scientific, linguistic or artistic) is at the core of creativity.
