MOBILE WEBSITES – the next BIG thing!

Do you travel much? Maybe, maybe not; but many of your potential customers do. One of the great conveniences of a mobile device such as a Smartphone or tablet is the ability to book services while on the road – hotels and restaurant spring to mind, but how about a boater whose yacht is having engine trouble and needs repair? Or a family traveling with a sick pet that needs care? Does your business have a mobile website that these potential customers can access?

Check out your own website on your Smartphone. Is the menu too small to read easily? Does it scroll sideways? Does a slideshow that looks great on a big screen take too long to load? Does the Contact Us form hang up? Argh!

Although we haven’t yet created a mobile website for ourselves, (it’s coming, we promise!) we’d like you to see one that we did recently for Ole’s Hakai Pass.

Mobile Features:

  • View the mobile site with your Smartphone – it will automatically identify the mobile version, even though the URL is the same one you access with your computer for the full version: www.ole.ca
  • The Search bar is available at the bottom of the screen
  • Click the Menu icon for easy-touch navigation
  • No lateral scrolling
  • Test is in a legible font, and large enough to read
  • Photo galleries are viewable
  • Contact Us form works beautifully!

Mobile features that simplify your website, optimizing it for the small screen will ensure that Smartphone users will get your message when they need it!

YOUR WEBSITE CAN DO THAT
Live Streaming Video

You’re putting on an event: a fund raiser, an AGM or a product launch and you need to stream it live to the Internet for everyone to see (or perhaps just specific viewers). You know it can be done, but how?

The Laich-Kwil-Tach Treaty Society approached us about streaming video so that their AGM could be virtually attended by members from across North America from the comfort of their homes or even from their Smartphones. The event went off without a hitch on November 4th and 5th.

A dedicated hardware device simulating professional video equipment enabled the video stream to be of high quality. Live monitoring of the feeds allowed us to make sure there were no performance issues. An archive video of the AGM was created and posted to the website (www.lkts.ca) so that it can be viewed by those who have a access to the password protected page.

Now any of our clients can host a live streaming event directly on their website. A simple webcam and laptop might be all you need! It’s a simple explanation for some pretty serious infrastructure. Call us for more information.

The Mobile Movement - video

WINDOWS IS DYING...

That’s the assertion of Roger McNamee, an investor in science and tech for close to 30 years. Its 90% share of Internet connectivity has dwindled to 50% because of the exponential growth of Smartphone and tablet use. The Windows slide is predicted to continue to under 30% of total market share in the next 18 months.

Who is Roger McNamee?

Ten years from now we will interact with the internet in completely different ways. Roger McNamee identifies six changes that are already transforming the ways we consume and create website content. Full bio and link to video here »

"Word-class investors like Roger McNamee are able to look around corners and see what's coming before anyone else."
