Focus on Social Media

A recent interview on the Web 2.0 media channel with Evan Williams, co-founder of the social media site Twitter, revealed some interesting facts about social media use and the change in the way that products and services are now offered to consumers. Twitter was founded in April 2007 as a way for people to micro-blog, essentially just posting an update about what there were doing at that moment.

Twitter has really changed the way that the Internet, and to a large extent mobile devices such as cell phones, rule our daily lives. With such a focus on tweeting and telling the world what is going on, is there no surprise that Twitter handles over 100 million tweets a day! Actors, politicians, companies and even the kids in school do it on a daily basis. This worldwide phenomenon affects thousands of consumer choices every day, with products being launched, services touted to new customers, and existing customers staying up-to-date with the latest events from their favourite companies and stores.

Twitter has grown exponentially since it started, and their new roadmap involves offering "Promoted Tweets", essentially a direct marketing tool to specific industry sectors. Twitter is also changing the way that 'followers' can find and follow your company tweets through intuitive targeting based on content. Tweets will be grouped according to the subject, such as Holiday Accommodation, Fashion, Music and more.

If your company isn't Tweeting then you really are missing a trick! Twitter is free to use and has worldwide, mass-market coverage. Speak to Chameleon Creative about Twitter and more social media tools, how your company can benefit from a marketing review and let Chameleon Creative work with you to ensure that your 2011 is truly a 'Happy New Year'!

Projects for 2010

2010 saw an increase in the number of customers who used Chameleon Creative to develop their web presence, and in particular, websites that use the Drupal content management system as a preferred platform. In a slower economy, many of our customers requested the ability to update and add their own web content. Drupal provides a simple interface that enables updates and new content to be added from any Internet based computer.

Chameleon Creative partnered with the City of Campbell River to manage the marketing and publicity materials for the Highway 19a upgrade project that is now drawing to a close. Our active involvement with the Chamber of Commerce has helped raise awareness of the Labour Market Survey undertaken by the Chamber - the first survey of its kind to offer a true industrial
profile for use by area businesses in the future.

If any of you have traveled the highway North of Campbell River, you may have seen the Sayward Village Heritage Trail signage, a partnership program between Chameleon Creative, Quality Signs - a Campbell River sign shop) and the Village of Sayward.

We are also proud to have created the visual image for the City of Campbell River Watershed Project, a series of public information signs in and around the lakes and reservoirs feeding the Campbell River water supply.

We look forward to creating new opportunities for our clients in the coming year. New ideas, changing technology and the fluid marketplace are all part of the daily conversation here at Chameleon Creative. We look forward to including you and your business in all that is happening both on line and on the ground in Campbell River.

We wish all of you a healthy, prosperous and happy New Year!
